Our team have managed the full medical provision to The Arches, Glasgow for a number of years; a not-for-profit organisation which first opened in 1991 from a derelict space underneath Glasgow Central’s railway lines – to what is now known worldwide for its Arts and Clubbing culture which have both been birth to talent across the globe. The Arches is a worldwide renowned hub of fine arts, theatre, music and a beautiful cafe bar offering a host of top class dishes, drinks and cocktails. The Arches was Scotland’s original Superclub – the busiest in Scotland – which was created to provide funding for The Arches arts programme. It was voted 12th best club in the world by DJs in a DJ Magazine poll.

The venue has 7,800 square metres (84,000 sq ft) of floor space which is spread over two floors and seven arches, with a capacity of 2850.

The Arches was an incredibly unique venue in that it offered a host of diverse entertainment to suit all palates, transforming beyond imagination from day to night. From the daily Cafe Bar offerings of top class restaurant grub and hand crafted cocktails, to weddings, conferences, comic con, the MTV EMA’s 2014 Official Afterparty, experimental art where The Arches was its only means of platform, galleries, theatre, live music from both local talent and worldwide chart toppers and Glasgow’s Whisky Festival. At night – we could see anything from trance, hardstyle and house amongst a few, with worldwide renowned DJs and local talent, with thousands lining across Midland street and Oswald Street with crowds chanting The Arches iconic ‘Here we, here we…!’. We could also see a variety of student and LGBT exclusive nights such as ShangriLa and XXL, and Late; Scotland’s first inclusive club night for people with learning disabilities which was featured on national television. This is a mere quick glimpse of the variety offered within the venue from my relatively short time there, and the excellence offered.

We managed a variety of combined services within The Arches Medical Room. First Aid, Emergency Medical Services, Non-judgemental + Confidential Drop In Services (first aid, alcohol, drugs and sexual health advice) and Welfare. We managed a First Aid / Triage room, with one bed and seating for up to 18 people, as well as a private 2-bedded treatment / resuscitation room.
